An excellent and surprisingly participatory seminar in the ins and outs of Prosecco and Spritzes. I learned a lot of interesting recipes that are waiting to be tried. Most especially, it made me miss Venice and the wonderful small bites and drinks available. And that's a good thing, because it nurtures my hankering for travel.
What a wonderful Happy Hour/Aperitivo Time seminar. Thanks for sending the ingredients in advance (even though the list had lime slices instead of lemon). I've been to Venice three times but did not have a Spritz until the last time (2013) and it became what we drank at lunch and dinner for our three weeks in Northern Italy. We were sitting at an outside table in a lovely, quiet, square. There were no menus or drink lists so we just pointed to the drinks at one table and the food at another. We did not know the difference between Aperol or Campari (or ever tasted them), but when the waitress asked bitter or sweet, we answered bitter and our affair with Campari began. It is now a staple in our cupboard. It mixes well with vermut, tonic water, soda water, and is wonderful on the rocks as well. Rachel did a wonderful job explaining the components of the 5 types of Spritzes and mixing in the history of the drinks. We especially enjoyed the Harry's Bar stories. We visited in on our first trip to Venice with good friends because of Hemmingway to have a Bellini, so now I have some history to share with those friends. Rachel also did a great job at engaging the group. I will be looking for her wine seminars!
Rachel is an amazing fountain of knowledge about Italian culture!! Thank you for imparting it to us in such a comfortable and fun fashion!
Rachel is such an accomplished and knowledgeable speaker and her presentation exceeded all expectations. She should be one of your main speakers on Italy.
Rachel is extremely knowledgeable and does a wonderful job of telling the facts and engaging her audience.
