Preceding the more widely known Golden Age of Dutch art, the 16th-century was a period of rich artistic exploration. In this seminar, we will discover how artists like Pieter Breugel and Jeroen Bosch, often sadly overshadowed by the more prominent names who came after, actually ignited a humanistic revolution in art and paved the way for the Masters of the 17th century.
Real globetrotters, these 16th-century artists incorporated Influences from all over Europe into their work. They distilled the new ideas infiltrating Dutch intellectual life into some of the greatest works of art ever made in the Low Countries. In addition to the big names like Bosch and Breugel, this seminar will introduce you to some fantastic artists now only known in small circles of art historians and dealers. Hendrick Golzius, Cornelis van Haarlem, Jan van Scorel and Maarten van Heemskerck were world famous is their days, and rightfully so.
Led by art historian Sabry Amroussi, a specialist in Netherlandish art, participants will come away with a profound appreciation for this hithero neglected period in Dutch art. With his trademark enthusiasm and humor, Sabry will discuss these masters with flair and gusto.

Sabry does an amazing job making the art come to life. Sabry provides detailed insights for each of the pieces that he covers and does so with a palpable sense of energy. I appreciate his passion as his love of art is readily felt by those attending his lectures.
Sabry's presentations are always informative and entertaining, and this one was no different. He often introduces me to less lauded artists, which is always a plus for me. I can then do my own research and often find hidden gems. Another winning seminar.
I couldn't get enough. Sabry knows everything about Dutch art and the literature about Dutch art. He's funny, personable. It's like you're sitting in his living room, and he's taking you on a time tour of the Dutch Golden Age (and before.) Did I mention enthusiastic? That's not a good enough word. He is filled with joy... and it's catching. If he were giving class in the significance of painting with a single-haired brush, I'd sign on immediately. Along with his hundreds of loyal followers.
