Smørrebrød, which translates to ""butter and bread,"" includes countless open-face sandwich varieties that range from minimal to extravagant using fish, shrimp, meats, cheeses, and a multitude of texturizing, colorful garnishes that throw everything you thought you knew about sandwiches right out the door. Learn how to make not only delicious sandwiches, but artful sandwiches, and the rules for making and eating such delightful masterpieces of simplicity.

In this interactive cooking class, participants will learn how to make four simple, yet masterful, sandwiches that will wow the tastebuds and eyes of any lucky onlooker. Led by an expert on Danish culture and food, Mari Harries, this interactive seminar will teach you the traditions of Smørrebrød, how to make four beautiful and stunning varieties that you can enjoy at home like a true Danish food artist, and the guidelines you must follow to consume them. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased knowledge of the art of the Danish Open-Faced Sandwich and the “rules” for eating them.

She is passionate about not only food, but the experiences people share with others around a table with food. She has hosted several events and given cooking demonstrations mostly revolving around her Danish roots and travels.
