Join local expert Cecila Sitran for a culinary journey through Venice, highlighting the delicious local cuisine, unique wines, and traditional ingredients of the storied lagoon city and its surroundings.
Venice, an open-air museum known for its beautiful churches, elegant palaces, and charming canalside alleyways, is also a culinary mecca. Based mainly on fresh fish and seafood, both from the surrounding lagoon and the Adriatic sea, Venetian cuisine has a millennial history. Together we will discuss the typical dishes and preparations from the area and how they are used to mark special occasions and local events. Because Venice historically ruled the lagoon and also nearby mainland territories, we will talk about the ingredients from the countryside that have become integral to Venetian cooking. We’ll start with appetizers, first and second courses before moving on to desserts and digestivo!
Led by an expert on food and wine, Cecilia Sitran, this interactive seminar will explore Venice’s culinary landscape. Designed to inform curiosity and future travels, participants will come away with an increased understanding of Venetian menus and how to order food and drink from the lagoon and nearby mainland.
