How have artists rendered the arrival of spring throughout the centuries? This seminar hails in the spring season with lots of uplifting images of great paintings. Now is the time to move forward full of hope and happiness!
In this series, we will be looking at how artists depicted the different seasons throughout the ages. How is springtime celebrated over the ages? The heat and sweat from the hot summer months? The autumnal festivities of bringing in the harvest, the making of wine, hunting for game, with the last of the summer glow. The hardships of winter, storms, and snow, icy weather, and the comfort of a fireplace.
This seminar is a celebration of Spring: the season of courtship and new life, and the season of Easter. After the bleak winter months, suddenly we see colorful flowers pop up their heads, we hear birds singing, the wonderful lush pink colors of the cherry blossom tree, little lambs jumping up and down in the fields. And we can finally go outside without layers of clothes. How did artists capture the Joy of Spring over the centuries?
Led by an expert on the history of gardens and landscapes, Dr. Alette Fleischer, this interactive seminar will reflect on how humans experience the changing of the seasons. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased awareness that looking forward to a new season is key to our wellbeing.
This conversation is part of a four-part series with Alette Fleischer. Each session is designed as a stand-alone seminar as well as part of a four-week series.

One of Context's best lecturers

I have taken 40+ context webinars and Dr. Alette Fleischer is one of the top 3. Deliberate and thoughtful are the terms I'd use to describe her, and her lectures are are visually stimulating, including her Bonus Slides, which are awesome! I always feel like I'm learning something from her lectures!
