Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera helped define not only Mexican modernism but also the politics of the country, all while engaging in a turbulent relationship. In this conversation, we’ll join a local expert to have a virtual glimpse into the locations where this compelling couple created some of their best creations.

In this seminar, we will walk through three buildings that are best known as the 'houses' of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. The Blue House, House Studio, and Anahuacalli host personal and art collections, at the same time, having a remarkable architecture that can be related to an old Mexico, Le Corbusier, and even Frank Lloyd Wright. These three buildings hosted parties, their personal lives, and now are popular museums. We will learn about the relation between the buildings and the works of architects as Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Juan O'Gorman, as well as exploring the collections inside.

Led by an expert in Mexican art, fashion, and Frida Kahlo, Natália Zerbato, this interactive seminar will cover the architecture and art collections of three remarkable buildings in Mexico City that belonged to the celebrated artist couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with increased knowledge about the Blue House, House Studio, and Anahuacalli.

Natalia is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but chose Mexico as her home and her field of research. From Brazil, she moved to Mexico City in 2014 with a degree in Fashion after finishing her research about Frida Kahlo’s clothes. Now, 6 years later, apart from being an expert guide, she is pursuing an MA in History of Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where she is studying the clothing and style of Georgia O'Keefe's, and comparing them with Kahlo's.
