Many may know that Antoni Gaudí is one of the most important architects in history. However, few may actually know the reasons why. By exploring Barcelona’s development in the XIXth century, its society, and architectonical style we will set a framed context that will let us see how Gaudí shacked the foundations of engineering, design, and started an architectonical revolution.
During this conversation, we’ll cover topics ranging from anything from the development of Barcelona to society and the bourgeoisie bragging about their wealth. We’ll talk about Modernism as a style, comparing the works of Gaudi to some other architects to show the contrast.
Led by local Catalonian and art historian Biel Heredero, this interactive conversation will unpick the narrative of this fascinating architect and his life and connection with Barcelona. Designed to inform and inspire, we will emerge with increased knowledge and understanding of how Gaudí caused a revolution in architecture and engineering.
A native of Barcelona, Biel has a degree in Art History from the University of Barcelona, where he wrote his thesis on Catalan artists. He is active in the Barcelona art scene, and as a Catalan, he has tremendous knowledge of the region's history and culture.
