This session with Pepe was very informative and interesting. What I most enjoyed was how he set the background of the times so that we got a full picture. Pepe is a great storyteller and made the events come to life. He shared lots of small details that made it even more interesting, as well as a book and movie list.
From the onset, this was a very interesting presentation of what is known (and still unknown) about the serial killer, Jack the Ripper. The presenter demonstrated vast knowledge about the hypotheses regarding these tragic murders of poor women in 1888 east end of London. Social life and living conditions at that time were described to educate the listener to the plight of the working poor at that time. Vintage photos compared to those of present day sites was fascinating. Maps used to plot where these murders occurred added to the content. The lives of the "canonical five" women who were killed were related and added to the inhumanity of these events. Since I was reading one of the cited books on this topic, this lecture enhanced my understanding.
Pepe gave an informative and informed presentation with wonderful pictures of Victorian London
Pepe is clearly an expert on London. The content was very well researched and presented in a way that constantly kept the audience engaged. Strongly recommend this one!
