Excellent course on some of my favorite paintings. Sabry really knows the subject and presents it in a sparkling way that kept me rapt throughout. I can't wait to take his next presentation, and I really like how he made full use of the Net to amplify the course. Highly, highly recommended
The third and perhaps the richest of the 3 seminars on Jan VanEyck and Burgundian art. Toward the close of it, participants were begging for bibliography, for more seminars, more Sabry. He's a vital, compelling scholar from whom we all want to hear more! He showed me beginnings of the art of representational painting developed in Burgundy which I'd never known, despite having read and looked at a good deal from the period. He is original, bold, but a scholar, not an overstater. 4 cheers for him!
So many people are doing Zoom seminars of one sort or another at the moment, but Sabry's Van Eyck triptych (if I can call it that) is the best I've watched yet. His enthusiasm and knowledge was faultless, and it was a real pleasure to spend over four hours listening to him over three evenings. Total recommended, and looking forward to booking more in the future
I learned so much. He was able to bring historical facts to light by using modern verbiage. For example : Van Eyck was a “rock star” in his time ... I get it, I can imagine it .... I want to learn more and see the art in person !
Sabry Amroussi is a truly gifted teacher. It's not easy engaging with dozens of people on a Zoom platform. But he does it with ease and genuine enthusiasm for his subject. A very talented
communicator. I learned so much in such a short period of time.
I may even take it again if it's offered. Thank you Context and Sabry.
