Boasting the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world, the Kröller-Müller Museum is more just a gallery: it is one of the most unique, personal, and splendid collections of modern and impressionist art in the world, created by a visionary collector, Helene Kröller-Müller, over 80 years ago. This seminar is the story of this remarkable woman and her incredible collection.

Located in a vast nature reserve in a remote part of the eastern Netherlands, the Kröller-Müller Museum not only houses countless masterpieces by impressionist and modern masters such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso, and Piet Mondriaan, it is also one of the most important collections of contemporary art and sculpture in Europe. With over 160 works on permanent display, the sculpture garden is one of the largest of its kind.

Inspired by the philosophy of founder Helene Kröller-Müller, Sabry Amroussi will take you through the unique history and fantastic masterpieces of this extraordinary museum. Having worked with and in this museum for 20 years, Sabry brings a unique approach to this marvelous collection and will leave you with the feeling of having discovered a hidden gem.

Sabry Amroussi is an art historian and writer living and working in Amsterdam. He specializes in the art of the Dutch Golden Age, mainly in the works of Rembrandt and his school, and also has a keen interest in the Jewish history of Amsterdam. He lectures and teaches on both subjects, and gives art historical tours all across Europe. As a true omnivore when it comes to art, culture, and even cuisine, he has worked with and for major museums and collectors, such as the LACMA, Rijksmuseum, van Gogh Museum and the P de Boer collection on Amsterdam. As a guide for Context, he is eager to share this knowledge in real life, always with a big scoop of humor, ofter intermingling art with social life, cuisine, and history.

This is a museum that I would never have fund on my own. Sabrey really made an interesting tour of the time in history and the particular personality of the creator of the museum. I enjoy sabry’s breadth of knowledge.
