Regular price $36.50 Save $-36.50
Home to around half of the Jewish population of France at the outbreak of war, Paris would become a focal point for the Nazi’s antisemitic operations. As the occupation progressed, new restrictions began to curb the freedoms of Parisian Jews, transforming the landscape of the city in unimaginable ways. Hunted by the Gestapo and denounced by neighbors, thousands of Jews would be rounded up and deported, never to return. This Conversation will chart the development of the French Holocaust, the perspectives of the Nazi and Vichy governments, and some of the important Holocaust locations across the capital.
Led by Dr. Nigel Perrin, a published author, and history lecturer, this interactive discussion will delve into the history of the Holocaust in relation to Occupied Paris. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with a better understanding of life in WW2 Paris.
This conversation is the third in a five-part series by Nigel Perrin. Each seminar can be joined independently and in any order.
Nigel has long been fascinated by the history of France during the Occupation, particularly in relation to the work of British secret services, a subject he began studying in 2003. 'Spirit of Resistance', his biography of secret agent Harry Peulevé, was published in 2008. Having completed his MA in Modern History at the University of Kent in Paris in 2015, he has now begun a doctorate on a spatial history of Paris under Occupation.
