Follow the impressive career of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian ranging from Amsterdam to New York, Jazz to architecture, and literature to painting with art historian and expert Sabry Amrouissi.

Part of the 'big three' of Dutch painters (Rembrandt and van Gogh being the other two) Piet Mondrian was present and involved in all the groundbreaking movements of modern art before and after the turn of the 19th century. In this conversation, we will follow that road; one which ended in him making art truly abstract.

“One of the best and most enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers I have had the privilege to experience.”

Together, we will follow his career, from the early beginnings as a classic impressionist/symbolist painter, his stint as a cubist culminating in his membership of groundbreaking artist group 'The Stijl', to his revolutionary and famous abstract work in primary colours. From Amsterdam to Paris, and from London to New-York, Piet Mondrian's career is essential in the development of modern art, paving the road for many abstract artists after him.

“Thank you for your brilliant selection of information and superb delivery.”

Led by Amsterdam-Art-Historian Sabry Amroussi we will travel the road modern art took via this unique artist career spanning more than 60 years. From Jazz to architecture, from literature to painting, Amroussi's passion about this subject will bring this unique period in art history to life, and participants in this conversation will come away with a profoundly different understanding of this period and important artist.

“He has a lovely way about him, great presentation skills and a very easy going friendly manner.”

Sabry Amroussi is an art historian specialising in the Golden Age and Jewish History of Amsterdam. His background gives him a unique interpretation and knowledge about Amsterdam's once thriving Jewish communities, and he loves sharing that knowledge, from the riches, gold and precious books from the Portuguese Synagogue to the tragedies and his family stories of the second world war.
