In this third Constitutional Conversation, the topic of the day will be informed by events of the preceding week and what has occurred since Election Day 2020. We may explore the role that the courts - both Federal and State - can play in elections and in a democratic republic in general, unpacking one of the least understood branches of government. We will take our cues from Election Day 2020 to facilitate a live conversation with a Constitutional Law expert.
This Conversation is one of a series in which we explore current constitutional topics in-depth, anchoring them in the context of historical constitutional developments. These Constitutional Conversations are designed to foster discussion with an expert and explore your questions and curiosity on this week’s topic through the interactive Q&A.
Led by the President of the nation's Center for Civic Education, Christopher R. Riano, Esq, this conversation is set to deepen your understanding of the Constitution and its role in elections today. Bring your curious mind and questions as we engage in a conversation about the role elections and voting play in a representative democracy, and the importance of representation to a vibrant civic discourse.
Christopher R. Riano is the President of the nation's Center for Civic Education, America's largest and most prestigious constitutional law and civic education organization dedicated to promoting an enlightened and responsible citizenry committed to democratic principles and actively engaged in the practice of civic virtue both in America and around the globe. Christopher Riano was as passionate, engaging, and relevant as always. He allows plenty of time for our questions and answers them completely and comprehensively. What ever he presents is well worth the time.
The work of developing myself as a better citizen includes learning more about our founding documents and the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This seminar provided a fascinating look at how those documents, and our courts, guide and inform our important current political debate.
Thank you. The rule of law should be, and is, reassuring during any time of upheaval.
