I enjoyed this talk on the villa and learned much - I wish I'd seen it before I visited the villa a couple years ago!
I visited the Villa Romana del Casale in 2013 without a guide. The site has nice English signs in each room about what you are seeing but I learned so much more in the Conversation with Alice. The layout of the the public and private rooms of the villa, the overall theme of control of nature, the three different styles of mosaics and the movement and story depicted in some of the mosaics really expanded my understanding of the site. I recommend this Conversation to anyone interested in Roman history and I hope to do a live tour of the Villa with Alice sometime in the future
Alice provides a thorough and stimulating view of this well-preserved villa, with its wonderful mosaics and archaeological restoration. Many of the artisans that made the mosaics were from North Africa, which at the time was part of the Roman empire. The life of the villa's occupants emerges from the mosaics and villa layout. I found I really would like to visit this site, hopefully, with the presenter.
Excellent presentation. I visited Villa Romana DelCasale in 2010. The virtual presentation really brought back memories of my visit and I learned many new things. The lecture was lively, informative, well organized and enthusiastic. Visuals were excellent.
