Very interesting indeed. A lot to squeeze into 90 minutes, but Mr. Batarelo did a great job.
Unfortunately it was let down by poor sound quality - time to invest in a good mic!
But otherwise it was excellent for someone like me with only a hazy idea of the Yugoslav conflict.
Wonderful presentation. Thank you!
This was a tiny slice of a long, convoluted, troubled history. I had hoped the presentation would clarify some of that, but realize that's likely impossible, so this brief overview and the terrors of the 1990s showed the eventual fallout of that earlier history. i The slides were important additions.
This is a very complex subject with many moving parts. Mr. Batarelo handled the lecture very capably using numerous maps to help listeners keep the various Yugoslavian republics in order. Because the subject matter was so dense, I found it helpful to listen to the lecture tape a second time.
Ante tackled a very difficult topic that has lots of moving parts. His first-hand experiences and the stories he related were definite pluses. I wish he had spent more time at the outset describing the complex ethnic and religious factors that are essential to a full understanding of the wars of the 90s (a slide showing name of region and religion(s) would be helpful). Ante's use of maps was very helpful.
